During my time in Berlin, I was completely overwhelmed by the sheer number of vegan options that were available to me. This city is undoubtedly one of the best places I’ve visited so far for plant based food, with a myriad of vegan only restaurants and cafes for travellers to choose from. In this post I’ve compiled a short list of places that I visited and enjoyed while I was staying there, just as a little frame of reference for you, if you’re going to be visiting this vibrant and modern city soon. Berlin is one of the more (although definitely not the most) expensive European cities to visit, so I focused on looking for the more affordable vegan options the city has to offer, but if you’re looking for a fine dining vegan experience, you’ll have no trouble finding that too.
Europe’s premier vegan donut shop, with three locations across the city. If you’re going to Berlin you MUST visit Brammibal’s Donuts. I went back to this place three times because it was just that good. There’s a huge selection of different donuts to choose from, and a variety of high quality coffees and hot drinks made with oat milk. I recommended Brammibal’s to an omnivore friend who was visiting Berlin after me and she got addicted too. These vegan donuts a genuinely better than any of their non-vegan counterparts.
Good Morning Vietnam
Delicious, fresh, and affordable all vegan Vietnamese restaurant. The location is a little difficult to find as it’s tucked away in alleyway but it’s so worth it. Perfect if you’re looking for something healthy after eating donuts all day.
I can’t remember the exact dishes I had but there’s a huge menu and it’s all vegan so there’s something for everyone, as long as you like Vietnamese food of course.
Quy Nguyen Vegan Living
Another all vegan Vietnamese eatery, which seems to be a very popular concept in Berlin. This restaurant also serves delicious bao buns. Easily located in a very nice neighbourhood. The food here is really light and healthy. I had a pho dish that was chock full of seasonal vegetables and was a perfect way to warm up on a cold day.
Veganised classic American fast food, also sells vegan currywurst. Located upstairs in the food court of the East Side Mall, so it’s kind of difficult to find on Google Maps. Only a short walk away from the East Side Gallery, I highly recommend stopping by if you’re in that area and you get peckish. It’s a little bit pricier than some vegan fast food places, but still not too expensive and extremely tasty.
A modern and affordable vegan chain restaurant with locations in Vienna that serve the same menu. The “like meat” vegan nuggets are insanely good, as are the sweet potato criss-cross fries. If you’re in the mood for a burger, the Vienna burger with a “like meat” schnitzel is fantastic, and also features the garlic sauce which in my opinion is is the best sauce served there. The desserts are also delicious, especially the cherry cheesecake.
